In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, amidst endless to-do lists and deadlines, it's easy to overlook the simple yet profound act of drinking water. We often underestimate the incredible impact that proper hydration can have on our overall well-being. Let's dive into the refreshing world of hydration and uncover the myriad benefits that come with sipping your way to a healthier you.
1. Energize Your Day: Water is the elixir of life, and staying adequately hydrated is like fueling your body's engine. Dehydration can lead to feelings of fatigue and sluggishness. By maintaining a consistent water intake, you'll find yourself more alert, focused, and ready to conquer whatever challenges come your way.
2. Boost Your Mood: Believe it or not, hydration plays a crucial role in influencing our mood and emotional well-being. Dehydration can contribute to irritability and mood swings. Keep your spirits high by ensuring your body gets the hydration it needs – a simple solution for a brighter outlook.
3. Support Your Physical Health: Water is a natural detoxifier, helping to flush out toxins from our system. Adequate hydration supports proper kidney function, aids digestion, and promotes healthy skin. It's your passport to glowing skin, improved digestion, and a body that operates at its best.
4. Maintain Weight and Fitness Goals: For those on a weight management or fitness journey, water is a secret weapon. Drinking water before meals can help control appetite, and staying hydrated supports your body in burning calories more efficiently during physical activity. It's a simple yet powerful tool for those striving to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
5. Enhance Cognitive Function: Your brain is composed of about 75% water, and dehydration can impair cognitive function. Staying hydrated ensures optimal brain function, enhancing concentration, memory, and overall mental clarity. So, next time you're facing a mental block, reach for that water bottle!
6. Joint and Muscle Support: Proper hydration is essential for lubricating joints and supporting muscle function. Whether you're an athlete or just aiming for an active lifestyle, water is your ally in preventing cramps, sprains, and promoting overall joint health.
7. Improve Sleep Quality: Hydration plays a role in regulating body temperature and promoting relaxation. Ensuring you're well-hydrated throughout the day can contribute to better sleep quality. So, don't forget to sip your way to a restful night. Put a thermometer by your bed side and take your temp when you wake up in the morning - what's it say? The best time is to take it upon waking or at rest. You want your body temperature to be in the 98.0 – 98.8 range. Too high can indicate that your body is dealing with some level of acute inflammation or stress. If you are trending lower it could mean issues with low thyroid, low cortisol, low iron, or multiple other ailments especially if it's a trend over a week. 97 and below usually means you're energy levels will plummet quickly!
The benefits of drinking water extend far beyond quenching your thirst. It's a foundational element for a vibrant and healthy life. So, grab that water bottle, make hydration a habit, and let the transformative benefits flow through every aspect of your well-being. Here's to a hydrated, energized, and thriving you!

5 Simple Tips to Increase Your Water Intake
1. Make it a Morning Ritual: Start your day with a refreshing habit by incorporating a glass of water into your morning routine. Whether it's a warm cup of water with lemon or a cold glass straight from the fridge, hydrating early sets a positive tone for the day and jump starts your metabolism. If you’re looking for the best tip: room temp water, a pinch of pink Himalayan salt a squeeze of lemon (or a drop of lemon oil – use Young Living Vitality oils only for ingestion. I do not recommend any other brand).
2. Infuse with Flavor: If plain water isn't enticing, add a burst of flavor by infusing it with fruits, herbs, or cucumber slices. Experiment with combinations like strawberry-mint or citrus-infused water. This not only makes hydration more enjoyable but also adds a hint of natural goodness. Here are a few items I like to add to my hydration routine for a boost of electrolytes and energy:
3. Set Hourly Reminders: In the midst of a busy schedule, it's easy to forget to sip water. Set hourly reminders on your phone or use apps that prompt you to take a water break. This consistent nudging helps you establish a habit of regular hydration throughout the day. I like to use the app “MyTherapy” and enter the things that are important for me to track and get reminders.
4. Opt for a Reusable Water Bottle: Invest in a reusable water bottle that you love. Having it by your side makes it convenient to take a sip whenever you feel thirsty. Choose a bottle with volume markers to track your daily intake and make it a goal to finish a certain number of refills by day's end.
I personally love my Simply Modern 40-ounce cup and know that I have to finish one full cup before I can eat lunch, and then drink another 40 ounces before I can have dinner. It helps keep me on track each day. I also fill up another 40 ounces after dinner and drink about half of it before bed (usually as I’m in the sauna or after a walk), and the remaining 20 ounces are waiting on my nightstand so when I wake in the morning I can start my day well-hydrated! My favorite water bottle:
5. Pair with Activities: Associate water consumption with daily activities to make it a seamless part of your routine. For example, take a few sips every time you check your email, after each meeting, or during a break. This way, you'll be hydrating without it feeling like an additional task.
